Basic Trigonometric Functions

Basic Trigonometric Functions

If you ever wonder to know the reason of learning math when you are in school, here is one example using trigonometric functions, you can either use vops or wrangle node to deform the points.

In a 3 dimension coordinate system trigonometric functions are always handy to use, for example to create patterns by manipulating the point positions, one can learn more about the math at the following link

https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra2/trig-functions/graphs-of-sine-cosine-tangent-alg2/v/we-graph-domain-and-range-of-sine-function

Some Artists prefer vops as they like seeing things visually, and some prefer writing clean codes, but result at the end matters which is same.

In the next blog I am going to do an example of vectors one by one.

Learning Resources

There are tons of online resources for anyone who wanted to learn Houdini from scratch. Here I am trying to organize all those resources at one location which will redirect you to the original link.

Why do I need this?

Mainly because there are many computer graphics related challenges everyday that includes implementation of mathematics inside Houdini, large studios have senior artists with massive amount of knowledge, years of experience and TD's to solve those problems, and it would be skillful for junior artists to look those challenges before jumping into the industry and get more productive with the rest of the team.

This blog is about learning various techniques and solving problems that as a Houdini artist we encounter everyday while using Houdini. This blog helps those Houdini artist who are in school or fairly new to the industry, but seniors are welcome to take advantage of it as I am also trying to create a database of information which are scattered on different locations by different people including links to tutorials that are available online, or you can say I am trying to organize help material at one location which redirects you to the source location.

As a member of houdini community I welcome Artists and TD's from all over the places for feedback and suggestions. I hope this will help the Houdini Artists in a long run.

Thank you.
